“Adult-ing” can be tedious, and even more so for a new mom or a mother of two, three or a starting line-up. Juggling a career, remembering to drink eight glasses of water, school pick-ups and keeping up with the socialites—it’s a lot!
The Mommy Spot, formerly Jazzy Moms, is a network for mothers and soon-to-be mothers, guiding them through motherhood by offering tips for them and their children and hosting events that make their lives easier.
Founded by soon-to-be mother of two, Keiani Thomas, founded this channel mainly because she wished that something similar was established while she was a new mom in her 20’s.
“Thankfully, I was able to lean on family and friends and learn from their experiences, but the world is changing and with it comes new trends, new demands on the working mother and I want to be that spot, that resource to help Bahamian and other women and their families,” said Thomas.
Fresh off of a re-branding, including a new name, the focus of the Mommy Spot is the same—bringing mothers and their children together for events that are geared toward fitness, fashion, beauty, entrepreneurship, entertainment, advancement and more.
“This channel was born out of a desire to unite pre-baby lifestyle and post-baby lifestyles for a smooth transition for the career woman and stay-at-home mom, the single and the married moms, the trend seeker, trendsetter and the think-outside-the-juice-box mom,” Thomas said.
The Mommy’s Spot is a networking hub, providing tips and resources for motherhood. This community offers encouragement and motivation, an opportunity to meet new friends and catch-up with old ones. More importantly, discover that there is no such thing as the perfect parent.
“What I found most surprisingly and helpful was realizing that a lot of what I struggled with as a parent others dealing with or that had the same experiences—that’s the wealth of a community like the Mommy’s Spot,” Thomas said.
Kicking off their first event of the year, the Mommy’s Spot is hosting a Mommy & Me yoga session on Saturday, March 7 at the Sandy Port beach. For a small fee, mothers and their children can stretch and relax near the calming waves, while bonding and fellowshipping with other mothers and moms-to-be.
Being a mother is the most rewarding job for any parent, but the demands of today’s woman are relentless. The Mommy’s Spot aims to make life easier so that we can enjoy life’s greatest reward.
